About the Royal Mausoleum Complex
Commissioned in 1878 by Nawab Mahabat Khan II and completed in 1892 by his successor Nawab Bahadur Khan III with visionary court vizier Sheikh Bahauddin Hussain, the monument complex is a visual marvel. Unlike conventional Mughal tombs with straight, enclosed minars, Mahabat Maqbara features four freestanding circular minarets, each encircled by winding exterior stone stairways that wrap around like swirling ribbons.
The main marble structure features intricate vertical Gothic arches, French-style shuttered windows, silver-embossed doorways, delicate jali stone tracery, and bulbous Islamic onion domes, creating a striking fairy-tale silhouette unmatched anywhere in Asia.
